Ashton Kutcher took part in the filming of an episode of "Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challen" on the National Geographic Channel. The 44-year-old actor talked about his struggle with an autoimmune disease, a very rare form of vasculitis. This pathology affects blood vessels in the human body and can lead to irreversible consequences. "(The disease) knocked out my vision, knocked out my hearing, basically messed up my whole equilibrium," Ashton shared.

It took him almost a year to regain his senses. "You don't really appreciate them until they're gone," the actor explained. "And then you think, 'I don't know if I'll ever see again, I don't know if I'll ever hear again and walk again.

The National Geographic interview was the actor's first confession about his diagnosis and its aftermath. "(I'm) lucky to be alive," he added in conclusion.
