The Dukes of Cambridge have shared their first official portrait together. The painting has references to the Queen and Princess Diana, marking the balance of "public and private life" that the couple adhere to. Experts have described the image as "relaxed and appropriate" as well as "elegant and dignified," aiming to emphasize William and Catherine's connection to their "home" county of Cambridgeshire in the east of England. The portrait was commissioned last year as the couple celebrated their 10th anniversary of marriage.

Middleton chose artist Jamie Coret, who had seen his work at the National Portrait Gallery, to carry out the mission. Catherine wore an emerald-colored satin dress by Vampire's Wife to pose, complete with a bracelet and earrings that belonged to Diana and an Elizabeth II brooch. But at the same time she gave up the engagement ring she usually appears with at social events.

The first official portrait of the couple is now on display at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.
